About St. Brigid’s Summer Camp For 50 years, St. Brigid’s Summer Camp has offered a summer camp experience to children and youth of all backgrounds. Our camp is located on beautiful Lake Manitou, near Low, Quebec. We are a waterfront-based camp that offers activities including swimming, canoeing, hiking, games, arts and crafts and campfires. St. Brigid’s Summer Camp is open to children aged 8 to 14 and each camp session runs from Monday to Friday (five days/four nights).
Your Role & How You Will Contribute As the Medical Administrator, you will be responsible for the safety and medical needs of the camp community, including campers, participants in the Leadership-in-Training (LIT) Program and staff. The health and safety of our campers is a top priority and you will be responsible for the implementation of a confidential and effective camp health care plan. You will work closely with the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director and all staff to provide support for health and safety and ensure adequate health conditions for the camp. St. Brigid’s Summer Camp is looking for staff who believe in the mission of the camp and have a passion for working with children and youth. Applicants must have strong organization, time management, communication and leadership skills and be able to confidently make good decisions in high pressure situations. Applicants must be exceptional team players, with an ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities. All St. Brigid Summer Camp employees are expected to be full participants in camp life and possess enthusiasm, energy, patience and a sense of fun.
Key Duties & Responsibilities This position reports to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. Duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): ● Performing first aid as required in case of injury to campers or staff and determining when an injured camper or staff member requires additional care that cannot be provided at camp ● Maintaining knowledge of potential medical situations, medical requirements and/or allergies of campers and staff and ensuring medical requirements are met ● Organizing and documenting medication needs and supporting with the administration of medication as needed ● Tracking inventory of medical supplies and keeping stock up to date ● Maintaining the camp first aid station and proper first aid kits and supplies throughout the camp ● Working with the senior staff team to plan and facilitate staff training on health and safety ● Taking an active role in effectively managing COVID-19 risks and promoting the health and safety of campers, including alignment with relevant public health guidelines ● Acting as a liaison between parents/guardians of campers regarding medical issues ● Acting as a resource for staff members and campers on health and safety ● Documenting incidents as required by camp procedures ● Fulfilling other tasks as directed by the Camp Director and/or Assistant Camp Director
Qualifications Qualified applicants will be: ● Enrolled in an accredited Nursing or Paramedic Program (minimum of two years from a recognized college or university) ● Knowledge of children’s health care ● Current Standard First Aid and experience providing first aid ● Certification in child and adult CPR ● Proven ability to maintain confidential medical records and implementing and maintaining a camp health care plan ● All employees over the age of 18 years must provide a current Police Criminal Record Check
