The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the key role of Chief Redevelopment Officer. Our organization is proceeding with the construction of a new regional health campus, including a regional hospital build, a new long-term care lodge, an ambulatory care centre, and multiple residences for staff. In this role, you will lead WAHA and teams at all levels to complete this project in collaboration with the capital branch of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Services Canada.
The Organization
Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is the leading health care provider on the western James and Hudson Bay coast. WAHA comprises of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA also provides regional outpatient programs, as well as paramedic services, in Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Peawanuck. The span of services, complexity of care needs in the region, and the depth of health integration has made WAHA a leader and a model of health care services in Northern Ontario. WAHA consists of 450 employees, a Physician team, many students, as well as the involvement of vibrant First Nation communities within the region. It is affiliated with Queens University and offers many educational opportunities for current and prospective team members.
Position Profile Requirements
• Strong knowledge of patient care issues as it applies to the construction requirements of a new health campus with an ability to work independently
• Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills
• Ensures that appropriate capital planning and redevelopment strategies are in place to support the development of WAHA’s new regional health campus and an ambulatory health centre
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team including experience in providing mentorship
• Strong interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of customer relations.
• Experience interacting and presenting to senior management and Board Committees.
• Knowledge of Indigenous health issues and the geographic region of the James and Hudson Bay Coast
Key Responsibilities
• Guide the Executive Team through stages 3-5 of the redevelopment process
• Liaise with officials and offices in both the provincial and federal levels of government as required to ensure momentum and efficiency through the capital stages
• Facilitate staff and stakeholder groups to gather data, feedback, while increasing engagement throughout the project
• Lead, participate, and facilitate teamwork across all levels of the organization within multiple departments
• Provide consultation to the Executive Team and Board of Directors on the processes, phases, and progress on the project
• Simultaneously manage multiple builds with different funding sources, Ministries, and levels of government to work towards a common project completion date
Qualifications and Experience
• Extensive experience in capital projects, redevelopment, and construction of institutional developments within the province of Ontario
• Experience in working with the Ministry of Health Capital Branch
• Experience guiding, leading, and facilitating teams
• Experience in gathering statistics, feedback, and data and presenting to executive and board-level teams for efficient decision making
• Experience in the construction and processes associated with hospital redevelopment
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Management, or a related field is a requirement
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Management, or a related field is strongly preferred
• 5+ years of experience in senior-level management is preferred
