This is a great opportunity at Brookside Retirement Living.
Scope of Position:
Your role as Brookside Retirement Living will be to primarily provide resident services including assistance with personal support, home-making, and developing meaningful moments for our residents throughout the day. Your role is resident center but also ensure safety and efficiency in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
- Completes all assigned paperwork
- Participates as a member of the Care team and provides support to the other members of the Services team
- Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Assists and attends to personal care/support needs of the residents as required within the care plan, as emergencies occur, or as directed by the Director of Care.
- Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
- Aware of employees and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
- Assists the dietary department with serving support as required
- Assists the housekeeping and laundry departments as required
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Previous experience in providing personal care
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Preferred post-secondary education in related care fields of PSW/GA/ DSW certification
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
- Must be able to operate related equipment
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carrying heavy items
Job Types: Permanent, Part-time
Salary: $17.05 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Early Morning
- Evening shift
- Night shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Ottawa, ON K2K 2W8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
License/Certification:
- Previous experience in providing personal care
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Preferred post-secondary education in related care fields of PSW/GA/DSW certification
