Scope of Position:
The Dining Room Attendant is responsible for serving meals and providing catering services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares food for serving to the residents
- Ensures resident satisfaction with meal service
- Participates as a member of the dining services team and provides support to the other members of the services team
- Performs the set-up, serving and tear down services at booked catering events
- Projects the appropriate image and focus on customer services in their dealings with residents, families and guests
- Observes all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Performs audits and reports anomalies in accordance with established policies, procedures and licensing regulations
- Sets and strips tables and serves food/beverages in accordance with established policies and procedures and all applicable regulations
- Unpacks and stores supplies. Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
- Washes, cleans and stores dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service
- Operates and cleans food service equipment, furniture and maintains dining area
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Is aware of employee’s and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Previous experience in providing food services in the hospitality industry
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Preferred Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Preferred Smart Serve Certificate
- Preferred First Aid Certificate
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate effectively in English
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carry heavy trays and items
Job Types: Permanent, Part-time & Full-time
Salary: $16.89 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Ottawa, ON K2K 2W8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
License/Certification:
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Preferred Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Preferred Smart Serve Certificate
- Preferred First Aid Certificate
